Our Story

Why Cottage 37 Became a Tradition

In 2017, my family (the Weitzes from Dayton, Ohio) joined the Edgewater Resort community. My husband's a carpenter and remodeler - he owns NB Weitz Contracting - so we saw Cottage 37's bones and knew we could transform it into something special.

But here's the thing: we didn't buy it to rent it. We bought it because we fell in love with Taylorsville Lake, the bourbon trail (Jim Beam's 28 minutes away), and the idea of having a family basecamp.

Eight years later, we still vacation here. Thanksgiving turkey on the deck? Check. Anniversary weekends in the hot tub? Every year. That cork mosaic in the living room? We sign corks when we visit - your cork sits next to ours.

Started in 2017 when we visited Springhill Winery and learned about their cork-signing tradition. I thought, “Why not bring that home?” Now every guest signs a cork (Sharpie in the kitchen drawer) and adds it to the mosaic.
